“When I came to Langley in 1970 I was five. We came from Blakely, but my parents came from Collyhurst. As a child you could go to Lakeland Court, which used to be a heaving shopping centre but it went into decline. It had a supermarket, laundrette, paper shop, chippy, butchers and a cake shop. Everybody used to talk to each other but when the shops went that stopped – about 1982/83. I do still feel safe walking around though. There used to be loads of pubs on the estate too and I’d always feel safe walking home from them” – Tracey S
